Former Kankakee mayor dismissed less than a year as Maywood Village Manager

Just a year after being named village manager in Suburban Maywood, former Kankakee Mayor Chasity Wells Armstrong, has been let go after an investigation found she had allegedly engaged in retaliatory behavior towards employees and used discriminatory language to describe her perceived opponents.  Her contract was terminated on July 19th.  She and Maywood’s Mayor had a strained working relationship to the point that the Daily Journal reports the two were no longer on speaking terms which led to Wells Armstrong being suspended in June.  In his report, the inspector said he had done many of these and never found a place where employees were so reluctant to speak for fear of retaliation.
