Consolidated elections were held across Illinois Tuesday. In the City of Kankakee, incumbent aldermen Michael Cobbs and Reginald Jones were re-elected to represent the 6th and 7th wards respectively. Christopher Bohlen, Deb Johnson and Suzanna Berrones won seats on the District 111 school board. Both referenda on the ballot were defeated yesterday. The County-wide referendum to add a quarter of a cent to the sales tax to be used for mental health initiatives lost 64 to 36 percent, while the question of adding a penny to the dollar sales tax in the Village of Bourbonnais for property tax relief was defeated by 34 votes. Elsewhere, Kathleen Slavin, Brian Lowery and Jon Sirois won in the race to be trustees in the Village of Aroma Park. Mark Hodge was re-elected Hopkins Park Mayor while Tonia Jones Lafi, Samthania Baines and Mihesha Gibbs won in the race for Hopkins Park Trustee. James Duffy was elected Village President in Limestone, garnering 68 percent of the vote. Voter turnout in Kankakee County was 13.5 percent.
