Billy Morgan looks to have won the Democratic nomination to take on Jackie Haas in the 79th District State Representatives race. Morgan won a four-way race that included Kankakee School District 111 Superintendent Generva Walthers and Kankakee County Board member Robert Ellington Snipes.
Grundy County Board Chair Chris Balkema appears set to take the 53rd District State Senate seat being vacated by Tom Bennet. Balkema won yesterday’s primary, taking 50 percent of the vote.
Michael Quinlan won the race for Iroquois County State’s attorney, beating Rebecca Souligne handily, carrying 81 percent of the vote.
Both the St. Anne School District Consolidation question and the Grant Park tax question appear to have been defeated.
Voter turnout yesterday termed to be a record low.
