The Daily Journal reports that three of four workers at Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee, indicted by a Kankakee County Grand Jury last month for an incident in the fall of last year where a 32 year old resident had been abused, turned themselves into police Monday. According to State Police reports, the victim with an IQ of 40, had a pillowcase pulled over her head, was taken to the showers then beaten with a broom handle, kicked and punched. Charged with aggravated Battery, kidnapping, and unlawful restraint is 39 year old Denisha D. Burns of Bradley, 27 year old Natalie J. Rose of Gilman and Cherell D. Stanbeck of Kankakee. The status of that 4th employee is not clear. All four are described as mental health technicians and have been placed on leave.
