Ascension St. Mary’s Sold

Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital has been sold and will no longer be affiliated with the Catholic Church.  St. Joseph’s Hospital in Joliet has also been sold along with seven other Ascension properties to Prime Healthcare.  Along with the hospital, Prime Healthcare has also purchased all associated physician practices and post-acute and senior living facilities including Heritage Village and Heritage Lodge in Kankakee. Prime says they are committed to making 250 million dollars in facility upgrades. Company officials say they hope to be able to keep some of the Catholic Church Traditions and that the sale should be complete in the first Quarter of next year.
